Emergency Numbers

Keep this page bookmarked. The two numbers most people here have needed and not had are the out-of-hours water line and the community first-aid contact, both below.

In an emergency

999 — fire, police, ambulance, coastguard. If you are not sure whether it is an emergency, it is; that judgement is theirs to make, not yours.

112 works identically and connects from a phone with no signal from your own network.

Not an emergency, but urgent

• Police, non-emergency — 101. Reporting a break-in after the fact, antisocial behavior, a suspicious vehicle.
• NHS 111 — medical advice at any hour, including out-of-hours appointments.
• Water, out of hours — for a burst main or no supply. The number is on your bill and on the noticeboard by the hall.
• Gas emergency — 0800 111 999. Smell gas, leave the building first and call outside.

Ours

The community first-aid contact is staffed during every event and reachable through the committee at other times. For anything to do with the park, the hall or a shared space, the committee email is the fastest route and is read daily.

Put 101 and 111 in your phone now. Nobody looks up a number well under pressure.

Power cuts

Call 105 from any phone. It is free, it routes to your network operator automatically, and it is the only number you need — reporting a cut also gets you a text when it is expected back.
