Garbage Collection Schedule

Collections run every week, and the two bins alternate. Put yours out the night before if you can — the round starts earlier than most people expect, and a bin left until eight in the morning is a bin that waits another fortnight.

The rounds

  • General waste — every Tuesday, from about six in the morning.
  • Recycling — alternate Thursdays, on the same schedule as the garden waste round.
  • Garden waste — alternate Thursdays, March to November only.
  • Bulky items — by arrangement. There is a form on the council site and a small charge.

Where to put it

Bins go at the kerb outside your own property, handles facing the road. Not on the pavement itself — the crews will take them, but wheelchair users and pushchairs cannot get past, and we get complaints about Ash Street every single week.

If your bin is still full on collection day, the round was probably early rather than missed. Check before you report it.

When a collection is missed

Report it within 48 hours and the council will return; after that it waits for the next scheduled round. Reports go through the council, not through us, but if a whole street is missed repeatedly, tell the committee as well — a pattern gets a different response than nine separate complaints.

Over the holidays

Everything shifts by one day between Christmas and the new year, and the garden waste round pauses entirely from December. The revised dates go out in the newsletter in the second week of December and are pinned on the noticeboard.
